About Parallel Flange Channels (PFC)
Parallel Flange Channels (PFCs) are C-shaped sections with parallel flanges. They are used as lintels, edge beams, channel frames, and in pairs as compound sections. PFCs have an asymmetric cross-section, which means loads applied through the web cause the section to twist unless it is restrained. Available from 100x50 to 430x100.
This page shows section properties for all 16 standard UK parallel flange channels (pfc) from the Tata Steel Blue Book (SCI P363). Properties include dimensions, cross-sectional area, second moment of area, elastic and plastic section modulus, radius of gyration, and torsional properties. All values are per BS 4-1:2005 / BS EN 10365.
