Compare Z Purlin Sections from UK Manufacturers

This tool lets you compare cold-formed Z purlin section properties from seven UK manufacturers in one place. Whether you're specifying purlins for a new portal frame building or checking alternatives for a value engineering exercise, you can filter by depth, gauge and manufacturer, then compare up to four sections side by side with full structural properties.

Manufacturers covered include Metsec, Albion Sections, BW Industries, Steadmans, Hadley Group, Ayrshire Metal Products and Duggan Steel. Section data includes depth, gauge, weight per metre, second moment of area (Ixx and Iyy), elastic section modulus (Wxx), moment capacity, flange widths and steel grade. Steadmans and BW Industries sections are S450 grade, while Metsec sections are S390.

Z purlin depths range from 120mm to 400mm across the manufacturers, with gauges from 1.2mm to 3.2mm. The comparison feature highlights the best and worst values for each property, making it easy to see which section gives you the most stiffness per kilogram or the highest moment capacity for your span.
